Waimanalo Kitchen Transformation

In the Navy

This small Waimanalo kitchen was closed off from the dining and living areas. Removing the wall divider opened up the floorplan tying together the busiest rooms of this house.

The split level from the kitchen to the dining room was an awkward transition between spaces. We kept the flooring the same and built an inverted step to add interest to the level change.

The homeowner’s eclectic style is evident from the vintage cast iron sink with integrated drainboard, to the glass-bead chandelier in the dining area. Solid design and custom woodwork like an exposed stained beam and raised-edge mahogany shelves anchor the look, and showcase the homeowner’s interesting finds.
